How to Minimize your Belly Pooch

The mid-section is arguably one of the hardest parts of the body to even out for most women.  Having a gut makes it hard to get into those favourite skinny jeans, and would make wearing any body-hugging top a veritable battle against being overly self-conscious. 

It’s not always fat, though. There are other offenders. We’ve put together a few tricks to help bring down or eliminate that bulge.  

Shake Up that Cardio 

Cardio is an excellent way to get an even trim since it’s a general work out for the body. But it can also be boosted to up the burn. Increase the intensity of whatever cardio routine you’re doing through HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). For example, whilst jogging, sprint for about a minute then go back to your normal intensity. This can be done even on a treadmill. Do this at regular intervals to work off fats all over your body, including belly fat, faster than regular cardio usually would. 

Just Crunches?

Sure, sit-ups are a great way to get ripped abdominals. But the focus of crunches is gravely limited. Full body core routines are optimum for eliminating that annoying belly bulge. Planking and ball routines are fine examples of core strength training that are amazing for a strong core, making one’s mid-section look much firmer and flatter. 

Diet and Bathroom Journeys 

We’ve mentioned that fat shouldn't always be blamed. Sometimes the body just can’t let go. Let’s just say it-- constipation makes the belly bigger. A diet that has at least 25 grams of fiber is essential for flushing out stuff that shouldn’t be hanging around in your lower digestive tract. Balance is still the key, though, because if you go beyond 30 grams, you’d break to the other side, and this would result to excess gas production, which then bloats the tummy up.  

 

Snack on These 

Some foods are better at diminishing belly fat and volume. Blueberries are known belly fat busters. Pineapples, besides upping the fiber content of your diet, have enzymes that make digestion smoother. Avocado and almonds are high in fiber and monounsaturated fat, which is good for staving off fat build up especially around the torso area.
